Gen Z and Millennials: Understanding the Next Generation of Consumers 2

Espen Hild is the current Co-President of UNLV American Marketing Association (AMA), an award-winning and top-ranking AMA chapter internationally, and is a senior at UNLV majoring in Real Estate and minoring in Finance, graduating in Spring 2026. Espen currently works in commercial real estate brokerage at MDL Group, combining marketing, business, and finance skills learned during his time at UNLV.

Working with business owners and retail property owners has given Espen a unique perspective on consumer behavior, specifically through the effect it has on demand for commercial real estate and the built environment. Changing consumer behaviors, especially with younger generations, are forcing retailers to adapt quickly, and as someone who is in Gen-Z himself, Espen has seen firsthand what the next generation of consumers demands in the current marketing and overall business landscape.

A native Nevadan, being born in Reno, Espen moved to Mesquite in 2018 and has been in Clark County ever since. Espen has been involved with both UNR & UNLV AMA, transferring to UNLV for Fall 2023 and immediately joining UNLV AMA’s board as Vice President of Professional Development, and is the Founder & Managing Director of UNLV AMA’s Mentorship Program, which provides students the opportunity to be mentored by the top business professionals in Las Vegas.

Outside of work, Espen is an avid and competitive tennis player and enjoys staying active through sports, reflecting the discipline, focus, and competitiveness he brings to his professional career. Espen also enjoys reading about Las Vegas history and gives tours of the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown Las Vegas, taking pride in being a resident of the greatest city in the world – Las Vegas!
