Location: Atomic Liquors917 E Fremont St, Las Vegas, NV 89101Purchase Your Ticket! | You’re invited to join UNLV’s Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) for our next installment of the 2025 Brews and Economic Views series: “The National Security Economy in Nevada.”
Join us at Atomic Liquors on Thursday, April 10th, as we bring together a panel of experts in the defense industry here in Nevada to discuss the role of the national security industry in shaping local economic growth and stability. Nevada is home to several military and national security installations including Nellis Air Force Base, Creech Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Fallon, and the Nevada National Security Site. We will explore how this sector impacts industries, workforce development, local businesses, and the broader economy in Nevada. This engaging discussion will provide key insights into the evolving landscape and its implications/opportunities for businesses, policymakers, and local residents. | | Fast Facts:
Nevada is home to four major military and national security installations. In Clark County alone, these installations employee some 17,200 members of the military (CBER estimate).
Each year federal defense spending contributes $7 billion to the Nevada economy (chained $2017 dollars).
Nevada is home to several midsized defense and national security firms along with contingents from several national security laboratories and large defense companies.
The rethinking of national security priorities presents opportunities for expansion and entrepreneurial activities in this industry, some of which will spill over into Nevada.
