October theme is ALTITUDE. It was chosen by our Toowoomba chapter in Australia, and presented by Adobe.
If you’re stuck, try going up. Big ideas are often described as elevated. A lofty goal. A bird’s-eye view of the problem. Blue-sky thinking.
Turns out it’s not just a figure of speech. Psychologists have found that being higher up, like on a rooftop or a mountain trail, changes how the mind works. People asked to think while in physically elevated locations generated more abstract ideas. While subjects at ground level tended to think more literally.
There may be no one better suited to bring this topic to stage than our very own, native to Las Vegas, John Beede.
John Beede is the first Las Vegas native to reach the top of the tallest mountain on every continent, including Mount Everest.
